Speed Up Your Weight Loss by Eating This Many Meals Daily
Increase your metabolism and fat-burning furnace — and lose weight more quickly — by eating five times a day... even up to 6!
Eating smaller, more frequent meals is like revving the engine up on an idling car... And that could lead to faster, easier weight loss.
Many Meals, Multiple Benefits
Of all the research out there, I've come to the conclusion that eating five to six times a day — three meals plus two or three snacks — boosts thermogenesis, the production of body heat that occurs during digestion and other physiological processes. Our metabolism ramps up during thermogenesis. There's a large growing body of respected research supporting the simple claim that amplified thermogenesis can mean more calories burned and pounds lost.
Small meals boost thermogenesis, and the research suggests that frequent meals do a better job of squelching hunger and minimizing spikes in insulin and blood sugar.
But keep in mind that eating more meals does NOT mean eating more food. Your total caloric intake shouldn't change when you eat more frequently. Simply divide your food into smaller portions to be eaten at more frequent intervals throughout the day. And always keep in mind that if you want to lose weight and keep it off, combine this kind of eating with the right amount of calories for your needs, PLUS an exercise program that's at least 30 minutes and no more than one hour at least five days per week, keep hydrated, and keep a daily food and exercise journal.
