Healthy Exercise Tip Regarding the Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system cleans all the tissues of the body. Avoid wearing tight clothing; which will obstruct the flow of lymph in your body.

Q.  Linda asked me, "I drove a school bus for 28 years and now have problems with my lymph system in my legs. Any suggestions? I walk and just started a class at gym."

A.  Linda, it'll take time, but stay with it. The gym class is going to be a huge benefit for you. I suggest you concentrate on body weight leg squats. Do them by taking a kitchen table chair, stand with your back to the seat with your lower legs a few inches away from the seat's lip. Then, with your hands at your sides, squat down as you raise your hands up parallel to the horizon. Your bottom can either barely touch the seat or stop well short of it. Make sure your heels stay on the floor and your feet are pointed straight ahead. You can do this squat as often as you want and as many times as you want. The chair is there for you to "train" on until you get the hang of it. Also, at night time or during a nap, as you lie on your back, you may want to elevate your lower legs just above your heart by placing them on cushions. Or you can lie on the floor and put your legs up on the couch or chair. But the bottom line for improving lymph flow is MOTION, ACTIVITY, EXERCISING. And of course, not wearing those tight fitting jeans.
